The National Health Examination Survey (INSEF) is a cross sectional prevalence study. The added value of INSEF is that it conjugates self reported data collected by means of a detailed questionnaire with objective information obtained through a physical examination and laboratory tests performed on biological samples. The former will allow us to collect data on individuals´ health, its determinants and on the use of healthcare services, while the later consists of a physical exam where data on blood pressure, anthropometric parameters (weight, height, waist and hips´ circumferences), and biochemical and haematological parameters will be collected. All this information will be gathered according to standard operating procedures adopted by EHES, as described in the Manual of Procedures. We expect that INSEF will provide us essential data to assess population’s health with high accuracy.
